Our country is committed to the well-being of its people. STARBASE is a strategic step toward smarter citizens.
Since opening in 2000 we have partnered with the Department of Defense and the South Dakota Air National Guard. The DoD provides our operational funding (along with funding for 70 other sites across the country).
The South Dakota Army and Air National Guard is a sponsor and vital contributor to the existence of STARBASE South Dakota. Not only do they provide classrooms in Sioux Falls and Rapid City, they also provide their time, expertise and knowledge. The students who attend STARBASE are able to get an up close look at F-16’s in Sioux Falls and Black Hawk helicopters in Rapid City. While viewing these magnificent aircraft, they speak with pilots or crew members and learn many facts about them. They are also taught what it takes to become a pilot, the training required, and what steps they need to take in their lives to attain these positions. Without their time and knowledge STARBASE would not be able to have the success expected of the program.
