Parents

Your child has the opportunity to participate in an exciting youth program called STARBASE. STARBASE is a National Guard Youth Program of Black Hills Special Services Cooperative (BHSSC) with involvement form local school districts. The program focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) curriculum with an emphasis on teamwork.

Your child’s 5th grade class will attend STARBASE Rapid City for five sessions with their classroom teacher during the school day. Transportation will be arranged by the school. Our classroom is located on Camp Rapid (2823 W. Main St. Building 801).

Prior to arrival at STARBASE, every student must turn in to their teacher a parent/guardian consent and emergency contact form, including a parent/guardian signature. Students may not attend without this form complete.

Prior on STARBASE days, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. We spend some time outdoors and your child should have proper clothing. A good breakfast is also recommended, as we keep busy and the children need energy for the morning. Your child may bring a water bottle to STARBASE as well.
